Dogs Allowed at Compo Beach October 1 - March 31

Starting Thursday, October 1, 2026, seasonal regulations for dogs at Westport's Compo Beach take effect and remain in place through March 31, 2027. Dogs are allowed at the beach but are prohibited from the pavilion, playground and walkways during this period. Dogs must be leashed in all areas of the park except for the designated off-leash section of the beach south of the pavilion (including South Beach). A violation of leash regulations is subject to a fine of $77. Additionally, animals are prohibited from all town athletic fields and playgrounds at any time. Dogs are permitted in surrounding areas, where owners are encouraged to keep them leashed near athletic facilities. Free entry is available during the off-season.
