Town Council Meeting

School Board Advances $17.7M Capital Plan

๐Ÿ“… Oct 3, 2026 ๐Ÿ“ Westport Town Hall, Westport, CT
The Westport school board unanimously advanced a $17.7 million Capital Improvement Plan on October 3, 2026. The plan includes major facility upgrades such as air conditioning installations across school buildings and renovations to science labs at Bedford School to match the recently completed work at Coleytown Middle School. However, the board excluded nearly $1 million in proposed work to Staples High School athletic fields, deciding to wait until a Master Plan Study of the space is completed later in the fall before committing to that investment. The plan also includes a $20,000 acoustical study of the Staples High School auditorium (with potential $160,000 in acoustic panel replacements) and $25,000 in design work for seating, carpeting, flooring and wall upgrades to the auditorium (estimated $822,000 in construction costs when complete).
